SAW GENT and CAMMIE ROBINSON, “Here”
“Here” has an interesting blend of lyrics and music which is atypical to the dance music genre. For me, it’s a terrific song first and foremost, with touching lyrics that are brought to life warmly with yet another fine vocal by UK singer Cammie Robinson, who you know from songs by MonoVerse and Blinded Hearts. It’s augmented by futuristic synth work and beats courtesy of San Francisco-based producer Saw Gent. While only appearing in 2019 as a dance music artist and lead act, Saw Gent is a music industry professional after many years in the biz during which time he ‘ghost’ produced several songs. That expertise and prowess really gets a showcase in “Here”. And as much as dance music lovers will enjoy this one in clubs, I’d love to hear an acoustic version of it.
BLINDED HEARTS and CAMMIE ROBINSON, “Rather Be”
No, it’s not a cover of the smash Clean Bandit song from a few years ago, but I think “Rather Be” by Germany’s Blinded Hearts featuring UK singer Cammie Robinson has instant appeal for pop and dance music fans alike. Blinded Hearts is on a roll. Every song he releases seems to be catchier and more appealing, and having the distinct voice of Cammie capture the many joyous sentiments to which anyone can relate is such a big bonus. “Rather Be” is indie pop at its finest, with plenty of opportunity to watch couples sway on the dance floor to it as well. Some remixes might draw out more firepower for clubs, but “Rather Be” is a song to soak in for everything it has to offer and more.
JRL featuring CAMMIE ROBINSON, “Break Your Fall”
“Break Your Fall” is the follow-up to JRL’s deep house collaboration with Ludvigson back last Fall with “Waiting On You”, once again for Tipsy Records. This time the Swedish production trio goes straight for the heart with a rich melody and hook accentuating some high notes in an electronic ballad led by a knowing but warm vocal by UK singer Cammie Robinson (hailing from my grandmother’s home town of West Yorkshire). “Break Your Fall” may be familiar but it’s timeless and captivating which will bring it home for most listeners and should garner a few close-ups on the dance floor too. You’ll know what I’m talking about when you give it a spin at the link above.
