“I Don’t Know Why” is shiny danceable pop from Sweden’s @NOTD and Norwegian singer @AstridSofficial

NOTD and ASTRID S, “I Don’t Know Why”

Following up their 2019 massive dance and pop radio hit “So Close” (with Felix Jaehn, Captain Cuts and Georgia Ku) is Swedish production duo NOTD with “I Don’t Know Why”.  Not long out of high school, these young lads continue to be in demand as producers, remixers, and songwriters with their bright, cheery, synth-driven takes on pop and dance music.  Here they partner with on-the-bubble Norwegian singer Astrid S, who has already had in concert showcases in the US and Europe.  The song is summery ear candy of all of the best flavours with a standout vocal that engages its listeners.  All parties continue to have enormous potential and “I Don’t Know Why” scores big time in both melody and hook departments.

Sweden’s rising duo @NOTD go all #Ninjawerks with “Start It Over”, with @CVBZmvzic and #ShyMartin

NOTD featuring CVBZ and SHY MARTIN, “Start It Over”

It’s so cool to see young and rising Swedish producers NOTD (Tobi and Sam) alongside greats like Alesso, Tiësto, Arty, 3LAU, Kaskade, Nero, and Dillon Francis on the new Ninjawerks Volume 1 compilation with “Start It Over” – and gotta like the boys animated Ninja-style in the artwork above too (real pic below)!  NOTD, who had a Billboard Top 10 dance club play chart entry with “I Wanna Know” with Bea Miller this past summer, brings along Oregon-based vocalist CVBZ, already written about several times in these blog pages, and fellow Swedish singer Shy Martin, who released her first EP this year.  “Start It Over” isn’t the usual kind of dance song you’d find associated with something like Ninjawerks, but clearly the high-profile man behind those projects is looking for a diverse mix, and NOTD delivers.  “Start It Over” is a catchy production that seamlessly blends two splendid and distinct vocals that likely otherwise wouldn’t be matched up, and the bold moves certainly work.  Expect even more big things in 2019 from NOTD.

Yes @Fergie is back with pensive “Life Goes On” and with an official remix by Sweden’s @NOTDmusic

FERGIE, “Life Goes On” (NOTD remix)

It’s not exactly the kind of song that I thought I’d be writing about, but Fergie is back with her strongest one in quite some time – I liked “A Little Party (Never Killed Nobody)” from 2013’s “The Great Gatsby” remake – with “Life Goes On”, which many of you saw her perform on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Eve special.  The brassy singer seems to channel the style of Pink here with a solid and affecting vocal, while Sweden’s NOTD diversify the song by washing it in some helpful synths, full bass rhythms, and some friendly drops to make it a solid draw for clubs and dance music radio.  If “Life Goes On” is any indication, listeners may be in for some cool surprises from Fergie in 2017!  Check out the official NOTD remix at the link above.
