“American Summer” is an idyllic good time, the third single from L.A. trio @Giiantsmusic

GIIANTS, “American Summer”

Following the smashing debut “Small Talk” as well as “Looking Up” comes the third single from L.A. based production/songwriting trio Giiants with “American Summer”.  It’s Giiants’ first for Ultra after releasing the others through Tipsy Records, continuing the breakthrough of the terrific mystery trio which is starting to unfold discreetly online (check out their Facebook page for some very familiar names written in these blog pages!).   I’m writing this fittingly on the 4th of July as it kickstarts summer with with its bright, heartfelt lyrics and joyous melody.  Even if you don’t live in the USA, you can’t help reflect on past summers with this song, and try to make future summers even better.  While there are plenty of shiny synths present to send the song into higher gear, it’s the acoustic guitar work that will charm you into “American Summer” from the very first note until you are completely swept away.  Add “American Summer” to your Summer Freedom playlist using the Spotify link above.

Go “Illegal” with a smile and brighten up your week courtesy of @theFareoh and @KatelynTarver

FAREOH featuring KATELYN TARVER, “Illegal”

“Illegal” is one bright tune with plenty of melodic bounce to help make your day into something better, because when you’re a little bit bad, well…. NYC Fareoh adds strings which give the song a celebratory vibe, while TV’s Katelyn Tarver – yes she of “Big Time Rush” fame – teases and encourages you along with a vocal totally suited for this song.  While you may initially think that “Illegal” sounds perhaps a little bit like too many other songs in the genre, stick with it because songs that make you feel so good don’t just come along any old day.  A release on the Ultra label should be convincing enough, so give it a listen at the link above.

Gone troppo: “Still Young” by @WilTril & @Aayiomusic (featuring @MatthewJohnKurz :D )

WILTRIL & AAYIO, “Still Young” (featuring Matthew Kurz)

I happened upon “Still Young” by producers WilTril and Aayio, recently released by Ultra music.  It’s a terrific summery retrospective kind of song, perhaps you could call it the “7 Years” of tropical EDM.  The buoyant, winning tone of the song is captured by the uncredited vocal of Miami-based singer/songwriter Matthew Kurz.  I’ve written about Matthew many times, but it’s now been about three years, so I’m glad to see a discreet breakout moment happening for him through this fine dance track for which he deserves much attention.  One of my 13 Performers to Watch in ’13, Matthew has many great songs available on You Tube through his mixtape or covers like “Titanium”.  WilTril and Aayio are gonna go big with this one and having Matthew’s honed vocal is such an amazing bonus.  Listen above and pick it up on iTunes.
