BILLCS Top 30 #756 – November 2/26 featuring songs by Rêve, WH0, Carly Rae Jepsen, Ian Cobiella, Greyson Chance and more

The new chart is a busy one, with a bunch of recent favourites departing and five songs making their debut.

I have to put a word in about this week’s edition of my all-Canadian online radio hour The MAPL Tapes. Show #36 spotlights the finalists selected by the CBC to potentially represent Canada at Eurovision in Bulgaria next year.  The complete schedule of the eight shows for this week is at the following link:  The MAPL Tapes. I’m stoked to help promote my country’s Eurovision initiative as I have been a fan of the song contest for many years, cheese and all!

Check out information about my ONLINE RADIO SHOWS after the chart commentary below as they are directly tied in with this blog.  As most of you know, I host 3 online radio shows – the all-Canadian The MAPL Tapes, and two iterations of Your Weekend New Music Mix – and produce The MAPL Tapes and 2 online radio segments – my new music and retro picks of the week – that are all pre-recorded. The MAPL Tapes, and the picks of the week are happily being syndicated and you can find the current schedule for all at the bottom of the home page of this blog. Reve, "Devour" It’s completely coincidental that Canadian Eurovision finalist Rêve ascends to the top of the BILLCS Top 30 with her powerful dance track “Devour”, which displaces fellow Canadian Scott Helman to #2. But will “Devour” continue at #1 in two weeks or will another song on the rise bump it out? WH0, "Wh0 Can Dance" First in line for #1 in two weeks could be “Who Can Dance” by UK producer WH0, which rises 4-3. He has had two previous #1’s. Carly Rae Jepsen, "Don't Leave Me on the Dance Floor" Next in line is the Fastest Riser on the chart for a second time in a row, “Don’t Leave Me on the Dance Floor” by Carly Rae Jepsen, which soars 14-4. Ian Cobiella, "Have I Been Good to You" L.A. diverse indie talent Ian Cobiella moves up 7-5 with his good-natured and unique track, “Have I Been Good to You” from his EP All I Have to Give. Greyson Chance, "Dirty Laundry" Another future #1 possibility is “Dirty Laundry” from Greyson Chance’s provocative fifth album Boystown, which climbs 13-6. The #1 spot has been elusive for Greyson, as he has had three songs reach #2. Cameron Whitcomb, "Kingdom of Fear" The other new entry in the Top 10 is British Columbia Cameron Whitcomb’s multi-format smash (including country), “Kingdom of Fear” (above), which rises 11-9. Cameron is also the vocalist on Diplo’s “Would U Still Love Me” (below), which moves up 23-19. Diplo, Cameron Whitcomb, "Would U Still Love Me" Swedish House Mafia, Lykki Li, "Happiness Is So Sad" It’s already been #1 at national dance radio, but Swedish House Mafia’s “Happiness Is So Sad”, with vocals by co-writer Lykki Li, climbs 15-11. MashBit, Alto Moon, "My Love" One of the most interesting dance tracks deserving your attention is “My Love” by Dallas producer MashBit and Atlanta vocalist Alto Moon, which jumps 18-13. Oliver Heldens, Kryder, The Young Punx, "AEIOU" In an interesting rivalry between two songs by the same lead artist, Oliver Heldens’ “AEIOU” (a cover of the Freeez 1983 UK chart hit and worldwide dance smash, with fellow producers Kryder and The Young Punx, above) rises 17-14, while his collaboration with UK producer Will Clarke, a cover of Sister Sledge’s 1979 European and UK hit “Lost in Music” (below), leaps 26-18. Oliver Heldens, Will Clarke, "Lost in Music" Alex Sampson, "How Lucky Am I" Canada’s Alex Sampson likes to keep busy, currently touring in Europe and the UK, and already scheduling more North American dates for next year, including two in Toronto on March 27 and 28. His track from his EP Growing Pains, “How Lucky Am I”, rises 21-16. K.C. & The Sunshine Band, "I Feel You" (StoneBridge remix) In an impressive StoneBridge remix, K.C. & The Sunshine Band climbs 27-20 with their latest, “I Feel You”. Jamie Miller, "Babydoll" The chart makes room this week for current UK #1 “Babydoll” by Welsh singer/songwriter Jamie Miller to crash the chart as the Highest Debut at #23. It’s his first entry and a deserved smash that hopefully will gain more traction in North America. Get dancin’, folks! Spoons, "Take the World" Next at #25 are longtime personal favourites Spoons with “Take the World” from their eighth album and first since 2019, Nightlife. The band has created some of their best songs in years on this album. Two Friends, Alexander Stewart and LØLØ, "Zombie"

As Alexander Stewart’s #1 “Temporary” departs the chart and Two Friends’ collaboration with iann dior “fire escape” slides 5-19, both artists return with another dance release together. Also including Toronto singer/songwriter LØLØ, the original track is “Zombie”, which I previewed two weeks ago and bows at #26. It’s Alexander’s eighth entry and Two Friends’ seventh, and follows up their #3 2024 release “Wrong Way”. I’ve written about LØLØ before but it’s her first appearance on the chart. Collect 200, "Will Be Stronger" At #27 is Collect 200, the dance project collaboration between UK singer/songwriter/producer Stevie Appleton and Toronto producer/songwriter Nick Henriques. From their debut album Everything Will Be Alright, I dig deep into the last track on the record, the breezy and vibey “Will Be Stronger”. Tracks from the album have already had a combined total of 50 million streams. Lonelysoul., "Loud and Clear" The final debut at #30 belongs to UK-based dance producer Lonelysoul. with the fresh yet familiar-sounding title track from his EP Loud & Clear. After the first minute of this one, you will be completely sold.
