So the next question is: Can Brandyn Burnette’s “Thanks For Nothing” crack the Top 3, as it rises significantly, up 10-4? The singer constantly reminds us on Twitter that the song may be a straight middle finger to a past relationship, but that it has an optimistic side to it about moving forward. Gotta listen to Brandyn!! There’s an ages old soul in that young body, methinks!

Those “Music Gods” keep forging ahead on this chart! Davis Redfield and vocalist Carl Man climb 7-6 in this edition.

Get to know Canadian R&B/hip hop singer Corey Niles as his latest song “Get To Know You” spreads across Canada, with the help of rapper Ish! It rises 9-7 🙂

Second time’s a charm, especially when it’s in a gorgeous, romantic, midtempo house remix! “I Won’t Let You Go” by Adam Tyler in an Aron Friedman remix gets to the Top 10 for the second time, and that’s only happened once before, with Nelson Clemente’s “You Want Me Don’t You” in 2008/09, which peaked at #3 both times. “I Won’t Let You Go” is at #8, three places short of its original #5 peak in 2011.

The fastest riser on the chart is “Say You Love Me” by Jessie Ware, moving 20-9, and arriving in the Top 25 on the UK Singles Chart this week. Simply cannot wait to hear it in concert later in the month. Looking at the Top 3, I have to wonder when “Say You Love Me” will be able to crack the mold, but we’ll see!

Jamie Scott’s “Unbreakable” may be unstoppable at this point – it moves up 16-11 this week and will almost certainly grab a Top 10 berth in two weeks!

Aussie faves 5 Seconds Of Summer seem to be making more waves at radio now as the Fall sets in with “Amnesia” rising up 17-14 🙂

Chromatone has such a good groove going on in “Play For Me” that you must check out the fantastic dance moves in its well-shot video. It climbs 21-17.

ABOUT THOSE FIVE DEBUTS…

It’s an overdue debut, but always better late than never. While his team has been promoting “Oh So Simple” and “Scared” from his fine EP Stage Fright, the romantic inside me has long been with The Voice contestant blue-eyed soul singer Jake Barker’s title song, which bows at #23. You can only hear a preview on iTunes but it’s worth purchasing the EP for its entire four song selection. The following lyrics alone just send me at each listen just after the minute mark: “10,000 people looking down on me / All eyes on me / Could I picture my life / All I see is you”. Jake Barker has an immense future ahead – and he didn’t even finish in the Top 10 on The Voice!
A love song of a very different kind is “Brando” by Semi-Precious Weapons, which arrives at #24 in advance of their second 2014, following Spring’s Aviation release. “Brando” gets away from the anthemic sounds on Aviation in favour of a song that sings about when you are faced with the fact that you are impossibly in love. Justin Tranter’s vocal is on its best game here, and I’m really looking forward to more from SPW before the end of the year! Now if we can only get them up to Canada to tour…

I wrote about Jane Badler’s “Losing You” a while back, but the song gets under your skin quickly, so it arrives on the chart at #26. Actress/singer Jane previously reached #8 with “Yesterday’s Tomorrows”, so her alt.pop stylings are no stranger to this chart! Be sure to check out the impressive video trek through personal hell below.

Those Janoskians fans have eaten up my Twitter timeline today as the boys play a show at the Danforth Music Hall. I like these guys for the fact that they are bold enough to take risks to break out of the boy band mold, even though they will attract some similar fans as One Direction, 5 Seconds Of Summer, and even Justin Bieber. The Janoskians shake things up with their innuendo with “That’s What She Said” at #27. North American radio isn’t playing, but then again that’s no surprise. The huge fan base says ALL!!

It seems like there’s always room on my chart this year for another Sam Smith song. The 80’s flavoured “Restart” (particularly reminscent of Daryl Hall & John Oates or The Doobie Brothers brand of white soul) premieres at #28 along with a new video below.

Extra! Extra!

The duo Erasure (being singer Andy Bell and keyboardist Vince Clarke) has long endured because they know how to deliver exactly what their audience wants, and continue to create new songs for their huge repertoire. Their music is hugely influential on today’s electronica performers, whether that’s obvious or not. Their latest album The Violet Flame is their best in many years, more than ever a throwback to their classic late 80’s/early 90’s period, which is where their set list focuses in concert. While “Elevation” rises on the Billboard Dance Club Play chart, the chart-bound zinger on the album belongs to “Sacred”. Listen below!!

Lastly, Tristan Thompson’s “Mistaken” shall return to the chart! It’s been bumped to being the third single release from Here For You in favour of another song, which I shall be writing about very soon!

As many of you are already aware, after many years away from the microphone, I am now pleased to be back as a voice on D-Moos.com Canada’s National Internet Radio Station, which mainly plays a selection of oldies, mostly from the 50’s to the 90’s, with soon to be more intrusions from the 2000’s and other new music.

Do listen in for my New Music Pick of the Week feature on D-Moos.com 8 times per day starting at 2:05 AM EST on Mondays, and while the station is only live in the evenings from 9:00 pm to midnight (with my long-time musical partner in crime “The Musicman” James Rogers), you can hear my voice at other odd times, particularly if you’re an oldies loving night owl on the weekend overnights 🙂

BILLCS Top 30 – #440 – September 22, 2014

Suddenly we move into Fall, and the entire landscape at the top of my chart is changing. Not unexpectedly, the high energy dance experience that we enjoyed for most of the year is shifting to quieter music with top notch vocal power and three songs that will rule the top of my chart for the next while.

The Top 10

The hint from two weeks ago proved to be true. Sam Smith acquires his 4th number one song of the year on my personal chart with “I’m Not The Only One”, moving up 4-1. This is one song that’s grown immeasurably on me from In The Lonely Hour since it was first release. It’s in fine contention to be one of the top songs of 2014, along with “Stay With Me”, “Money On My Mind”, and “Latch”. The relentless worldwide touring must be taking its toll – Sam had to cancel his Toronto stop on his tour.

The fastest riser is right behind, and it’s “Smile” by Mikky Ekko, bounding 17-2, certain to be #1 whenever “I’m Not The Only One” concedes. The singer is touring with Alt-J, which is already seeing sold out shows across the country, including the Toronto stop on November 11.

Harriet’s rich vocal tones send “Afterglow” from 6 to 3. It’s from her fine 3 song EP What’s Mine Is Yours, containing the solid pop song of the same name, plus a cover of Judie Tzuke’s “If (When You Go)”, and they’re all grandly produced by Steve Anderson.

“This Could Be Something” by Anton Ewald & Medina is proving to be enduring, slipping 2-4, just can’t get the ‘oooh oooh’s’ out of my head yet!
Davis Redfield & Carl Man’s “Music Gods” moves up 9-7, ever so eyeing the Top 50 in two weeks amid fierce competition.

It’s Mikky Ekko again at #8, this time as featured voice on Chris Malinchak’s funky club song “Stranger”, rising 11-8.

“Get To Know You” by Corey Niles & Ish is picking up in radio airplay across Canada! The infectious and tightly produced song climbs 12-9.

From the forthcoming album The Couch Surfing Chronicles, Brandyn Burnette’s “Thanks For Nothing” moves 15-10. Brandyn’s one well-grounded old soul kind of guy and his tweets are well worth your perusal! He plays in L.A on Monday September 22 at the Hotel Cafe. Take a look at his “Life’s A Beach” video below – it will make you smile!

On The Way Up

The remix of Adam Tyler’s 2011 single “I Won’t Let You Go” in an Aron Friedman remix is once again on its way to the Top 10, where it previously peaked at #5. Also climbing is the Paul Hetherington-produced “Criminal”, up 23-18. You can preview a new single featuring Adam further down below 🙂

The positive folk/pop of Knoxville, TN based singer Lyonn (aka Tyler Gelrud) continues to flourish as “Just Say Hello” climbs 20-15.

Soon to make an international breakthrough is Graffiti6 singer Jamie Scott with his latest single “Unbreakable”, from his upcoming album My Hurricane. The song jumps 24-16. Watch the new heart-stirring video above.

Slick R&B/pop from Chromatone, with a winning video full of great dancing and choreography, comes in the form of “Play For Me”, which rises 26-21.

Premiering

Like many others, I can’t wait till the release of Jessie Ware’s Tough Love album as well as the UK singer’s North American tour, which brings her to Toronto on October 26 (and I’m going YAY). In the meantime, “Say You Love Me” and its quiet power makes a splash on the chart at #20. Jessie’s only previous appearance on my chart was on a reissue of Miguel’s “Adorn”, which got to #1 last Fall. The Tough Love album also features a 70’s R&B flavoured Miguel composition “Kind Of…Sometimes…Maybe”, which you can hear below.

As his former #1 “Tidal Wave” is about to depart the chart after a maximum 10 appearances (20 weeks), the latest from 16 year old Tristan Thompson arrives on the chart at #22. Watch the video for “Mistaken” below.

Lastly, it’s a great reason to fall in love with a song you enjoyed the first time around. Penguin Prison has put a disco spin on his cover of Sade’s first single “Hang On To Your Love”. It’s available to you as a free download in anticipation of PP’s sophomore album, and bows on the chart at #25. PP has a great track record on my chart – “Hang On” is his 7th entry, plus he’s been featured on one other Top 5 song (RAC’s “Hollywood”) and remixed four songs (by Jamiroquai, The Temper Trap’s #1 “Resurrection”, Ghost Beach, and Lana Del Rey).

BILLCS Top 30 #439 – September 8/14

While I have three sharp debuts on this new edition of my personal chart, most of the big activity takes place in the upper half of the chart. The top of the chart stays the same and all those newcomers from the last few weeks are jammed in line waiting for their turn to advance 🙂

WordPress also kindly reminded me that it was five years ago that I started this blog! 🙂

THE TOP 10

1, 2, 3 BLAM! All held tight by Bright Light Bright Light’s “I Believe”, Anton Ewald & Medina’s “This Could Be Something” (video is right here), and “Time Has Come” by Finland’s Hannis. Let’s see who’s going to give up their place in two weeks as other songs below will advance! Bright Light Bright Light also returns to North American for another leg of his tour with Elton John! Check online for dates!

Sam Smith has already had three songs which have reached #1 here this year – “Money On My Mind”, “Latch” (with Disclosure), and “Stay With Me”. Can he do the same with “I’m Not The Only One”? It soars 13-4. What kind of bet would you make? 🙂

The Presets are coming back to North America (in Toronto at Danforth Music Hall on October 29), and I’m hoping a new album or EP will follow that tour. “No Fun” is close to matching the #4 peak of “If I Know You” from 2009 as it climbs 8-5.
The fastest riser on the chart, not surprisingly, is last week’s highest debut, the pensive and thoughtful “Afterglow” by new UK sensation Harriet. It vaults 16-6 and Top 5 is an immediate destination!

I was a bit late on this song but it does resonate long-term! “Ten Feet Tall” by Afrojack featuring Stephen Wrabel moves up 11-8.
Just as former #1 “Electrify The Night” leaves the Top 10, the team of Davis Redfield & Carl Man and their songwriting crew continue on as “Music Gods” leaps 15-9!

The fourth song new to the Top 10 is the bouncy and fun “Big City Girls (Don’t Fall In Love With Small Town Boys)” by the mysterious Zorro Blakk at #10.

ON THE RISE

Some nice five point jumps happening for three songs. The fine collab between Corey Niles & Ish on “Get To Know You” soars 17-12 (already matching the peak of “Rollercoaster”!), while Brandyn Burnette’s entertaining kiss-off “Thanks For Nothing” and Eli Lieb’s retro-pop “Zeppelin” move up 20-15 and 21-16 respectively!

Other recent entries seem to be off to slower starts but could pick up in the coming weeks. So there are three point moves for the re-entry of Adam Tyler’s “I Can’t Let You Go” in an Aron Friedman remix (22-19), Nashville-based singer Lyonn with “Just Say Hello” (23-20) (below), and Aussie sensations 5SOS with “Amnesia” (24-21).

The remaining two of last week’s debuts are also off to deceiving starts – “Criminal” by Adam Tyler climbs 27-23 and Jamie Scott’s “Unbreakable” (below) rises 28-24, but they should also get into full gear on subsequent charts!

PREMIERING

Mikky Ekko’s “Smile” is one of the most stunning new songs of the year and arrives at #17. Its sights are set for #1 so watch out! Mikky’s also featured on Chris Malinchak’s funky and fresh “Stranger” at #11.

“Play For Me” by Chromatone debuts at #26 for the talented singer/songwriter/dancer. Be sure to click on the picture on the chart to watch the video, which is filled with all kind of great dance moves and choreography.

The last debut is “Killer Whales” by Smallpools at #28, which I first heard in concert when they opened for Neon Trees this summer. The quartet initially made the song available for free download, and I’m looking forward to their sophomore album which should arrive this Fall.

BILLCS Top 30 #438 – August 25/14

This post will be about the highlights on the chart, as there is so much going on, with so much good new music find its way onto the chart too that others are making a quick exit. Plus there’s a rare event as a past hit re-enters the chart in a remixed version!

The New #1

Bright Light Bright Light gets his latest #1 (only his 5th since 2010 😉 ) with “I Believe”, from his sophomore album Life Is Easy. Past #1’s were “A New Word To Say”, “Love Part II”, “Waiting For The Feeling”, and the song that will follow “I Believe” as the next single from the album, “An Open Heart” (released on last year’s In Your Care EP). Rod (aka BLx2) will be on tour in England soon and then back to the US for more shows later in the year.

The Rest of the Top 20

“This Could Be Something” by Anton Ewald featuring Medina is one of the year’s ear-creepers as it advances to #2, matching Anton’s previous peak last year with the still-exhilarating “Begging”.
One of the year’s most unexpected pleasures is the europop/dubstep mix in “Time Has Come” by Finnish singer Hannis. It moves up to #3!

Sam Dickinson is one busy lad in the UK, set to perform a number of dates to promote the deluxe edition of his album The Stories That Occurred. “When You Left Me” will grab you from its first note, and it climbs 10-7, surpassing the previous #8 peak of last year’s equally riveting “Learn To Wait”.

The Presets are in fine funky form with “No Fun”, the Aussie duo’s latest and one of their most interesting songs to date. And I’m so pleased they’re coming back to North America for a Fall tour, so I’m hoping to catch them in Toronto on October 29 at the Danforth Music Hall this time. It’s been 5 years since I saw their show in California and I’m itching to hear the songs in concert that they’ve released since that time!!

Movin’ On Up

It’s absolutely no surprise that Sam Smith’s “I’m Not The Only One” is the fastest riser, jumping 22-13. It’s simply a classic pop song just like “Stay With Me” and is set to follow suit up my chart and others!

“Stranger” by Chris Malinchak & Mikky Ekko debuted just outside of the Top 40 in the UK this week, and I’m hoping interest will continue in this gorgeously sung and produced song. It moves up 18-14 and Mikky Ekko is set to release his debut album, which he previewed in concert in Times Square recently!

“Electrify The Night” leaves #1 after a month at the top, but the other collaboration by Davis Redfield & Carl Man, “Music Gods”, is on its own way up the chart, advancing 19-15.

Canadians Corey Niles and Ish and their busy hip hop/pop song “Get To Know You” are all fired up and climbing, this week up a massive 25-17!

I thought we’d hear more about what was next (besides more touring) for Neon Trees after the success of “Sleeping With A Friend” from their album Pop Psychology. In my chart world, “Love in the 21st Century” continues to rise, up 20-18.

Singer/songwriters Brandyn Burnette and Eli Lieb have good things going on with their latest single. Brandyn’s kiss off “Thanks For Nothing” moves 26-20 and Eli’s reminiscence of those special times listening to “Zeppelin” climbs 27-21.

Four Debuts!

The chart continues to be a revolving door for new music lately – it’s all soooo good!

I wrote about her EP What’s Mine Is Yours just the other day, but I’ve been waiting so long to chart Harriet’s “Afterglow” – I won’t chart songs until they are officially available for purchase/download. Nonetheless, “Afterglow” makes a huge splash at #16 – a must for your ears in 2014!

While his “Knew You Better” holds at #9 this week, I mentioned two weeks ago that songs from Adam Tyler’s Shattered Ice deluxe edition have been quietly waiting for their turn on the chart. And with this edition there’s a double whammy. First, a rarity: “I Won’t Let You Go” returns after 3 years in a brilliant downtempo house-y remix by Aron Friedman that almost sounds like a new song. It returns at #22 and we’ll have to see if it matches the #5 peak of the original. It also may end up being the longest-lasting song on the chart as a re-entry if it lasts 9 appearances. The record for a re-entry is currently held by Ryan Star’s “Last Train Home”, which had 17 appearances in two separate chart runs. Then we have an insanely catchy new one, produced by Australia’s Paul Hetherington called “Criminal”, which I think should be the next single after “Knew You Better”. “Criminal” arrives at #27.

Debuting at #28 is Jamie Scott’s “Unbreakable”, which sounds like it could be a Fall smash with its emotional story and solid vocal performance from the singer of Graffiti6. Jamie’s album My Hurricane is on deck for October.

BILLCS Top 30 #437 – August 11, 2014

The vacation season is almost as busy as being at work, though with Robin Williams’ passing last night it didn’t seem appropriate to post anything amid the sadness.

But on we go, to a new personal chart with six new contenders premiering, four of which I’ve already written about!

The Top 10

My Top 2 songs stay the same. House Rockerz/Davis Redfield/Carl Man continue to light up the chart with “Electrify The Night” at #1, while former #1 Tristan Thompson hangs at #2 with “Tidal Wave”. Tristan’s coming to Toronto for a benefit performance in a few weeks so I’ll keep you posted on that!

Eyeing the top spot for two weeks from now is the brilliant pairing of Sweden’s Anton Ewald with Denmark’s Medina on “This Could Be Something”, from Anton’s EP On My Way. There’s truly international potential for this one, hopefully it can still break out of the Nordic countries!
New to the Top 5 at #5 is Finland’s Hannis with her europop/dubstep beauty, “Time Has Come”, one of the most different and alluring songs of 2014.

Charli XCX’s “Boom Clap” from “The Fault In Our Stars” appears to be headed for #1 in many places around the world and will become one of 2014’s defining pop songs. It climbs to #7 this week. It might be the best song Roxette never wrote! *Hums “Joyride*
The fastest riser once again on the chart is no stranger to that accolade, Bright Light Bright Light, with “I Believe” from his new album Life Is Easy, climbing 16-8. “An Open Heart”, which got to #1 earlier in the year on my chart through its appearance on the In Your Care EP, will be the next official single release from the album. Woooohoooo!

I’m so torn between two or three other songs from the Deluxe Edition of Shattered Ice that another Adam Tyler song will have to wait for two more weeks to appear on the chart. In the meantime, leading the way is the single “Knew You Better” – love all of the Madonna-ish French dialogue – rising 13-9.

Right behind, after releasing his Deluxe Edition of The Stories That Occurred last week on iTunes, is Sam Dickinson, receiving his second Top 10 placing on this chart with “When You Left Me”, moving up 14-10.

Movin’ On Up

A bit of a log jam happening for some fine songs, with a couple of last chart’s debuts making headway and looking to climb more in the next few weeks!

“Ten Feet Tall”, the affecting collaboration by Afrojack and Wrabel, climbs 20-13 – does anyone else think the melody sounds a bit like Marc Cohn’s “Walking In Memphis” at times?

Despite its title, “No Fun” by The Presets is indeed a fun, funky, grooving ride, full of great effects and a fine vocal. It rises 21-14.

Zorro Blakk’s second chart entry, the bouncy “Big City Girls (Don’t Fall In Love With Small Town Boys)”, continues to move up after “Good News (For People Who Love Bad News)” peaked at #7 on the last chart. “Big City Girls” jumps 18-15.
Look for “Stranger” by Chris Malinchak featuring Mikky Ekko (22-18), “Music Gods” by Davis Redfield featuring Carl Man (23-19), and “Love In The 21st Century” by Neon Trees (25-20) to break out more in two weeks.

A Half Dozen New Arrivals

Sam Smith’s “I’m Not The Only One” debuts at #22. It wasn’t what I expected as a follow up single to “Stay With Me” but it could do as well on the charts. It’s also accompanied by a terrific and sometimes hard-to-watch video featuring “Glee”‘s Dianna Agron. Give it a watch at the top of the post.
Corey Niles has his second chart entry with a rollicking slice of hip hop/pop, “Get To Know You”, featuring fellow Toronto rapper Ish. It bows at #25.

It’s all about the hook and Brandyn Burnette knows how to write ’em. It takes a couple of listens but “Thanks For Nothing” is a no-brainer winner. It arrives at #26.

Remember those times spent with friends and rocking out to your favourite performers? Eli Lieb makes it an emotional memory fest with “Zeppelin” at #27.

Talented Knoxville TN-based newcomer Lyonn arrives with “Just Say Hello” at #28 from his EP Promenade. Huge thumbs up for the adorable and sincere accompanying video.

All of a sudden 5SOS are one of the biggest bands in the world. The Aussie quartet lands on the chart for a second time as “She Looks So Perfect” exits with the pretty pop/rock ballad “Amnesia” at #29.

Got It Goin’ On: “Get To Know You” by @CoreyNiles featuring @TheNameIsIsh

COREY NILES featuring ISH, “Get To Know You”

Late last week before I took off to NYC, I alerted you to the latest by Toronto’s own Corey Niles, and said I would follow up on official release. Well “Get To Know You” (featuring Ish) hit the streets on Monday, accompanied by the lyric video above. Knowing the blast that was Corey’s earlier single “Rollercoaster”, I certainly expected that after the gentler “Just The 2 Of Us” he might slam as hard, and “Get To Know You” does just that.

But it all really wouldn’t come together if the vocals and jam-packed production weren’t so on point! Corey’s voice gets deep down in it after both the minute and two minute marks. Singing the word “baby” a bazillion times doesn’t always work, but the urgency here makes it memorable. And as I mentioned previously, Ish’s complimentary break makes the song that much sweeter, sealing the deal just before it ends.

Corey Niles is one of a handful of singer/songwriters who lead the way with R&B in Canada. “Get To Know You” is a solid pop/hip hop song that should easily make friends at radio stations across North America. Listen for it… and get it on iTunes!

COREY NILES featuring ISH, “Get To Know You”

This is an exclusive BILLCS Music Blog alert! Coming on Monday is the latest and perhaps greatest of three singles this past year from Toronto singer/songwriter Corey Niles. This time he returns to the form of his first deep n’ dirty hip hop single “Rollercoaster” (which featured Dru) for “Get To Know You”, and he brings along fellow Canadian Ish (known himself for solo work plus collaborations with Stef Lang, Faber Drive, Esthero, and Daniel Richter of Eleven Past One). Not only will “Get To Know You” sound great next to fellow Canadian R&B performers like Raghav or Massari, it will be the new flavour for you that you might find sandwiched on the radio between Usher and Chris Brown tunes. Corey’s distinctive voice is like grittier Drake, and the break by Ish sends the song home. I will be away for the next four days and not blogging, but I’ll have all of the details about “Get To Know You” next week 🙂

I tipped you off to this new song as a Valentine’s Day sneak preview 🙂 Toronto’s Corey Niles shows his softer style, which fans of Drake will enjoy, with “Just The 2 Of Us”. The song has a melody that’s totally in sync with the emotional quality of the song. But it’s not too soft – a pointed hip hop rhythm keeps the song moving, which will attract a lot of handsome couples to the dance floor 🙂 It’s a fine follow-up to Corey’s harder hitting “Rollercoaster”. Your Pre-Valentine’s Day Exclusive Treat: Sneak Preview of “Just The 2 Of Us” by @CoreyNiles

Just when you might think Toronto’s Corey Niles is all about wild women, zombies, and the ‘Rollercoaster’ of love (his song of which just peaked at #12 on my chart), you will think 2wice when you hear his new single “Just The 2 Of Us”, due on February 25. Move over Drake and make some room for another Toronto R&B talent about to pop. Think of the softer tones of Drake’s “Over” and the pop flavour of Will Smith’s cover of “Just The Two Of Us” (which is a different song by the way) with a dash of romance and longing, and you’re almost there. Corey Niles is on his game 🙂 Listen to the exclusive snippet above.

BILLCS Top 30 #423 – January 27/14

The end of January sees a cold, cold winter continuing… but with extra hot EDM/dance music, if our three debuts (with thanks to Matthew Koma on two of them 🙂 ) and the new #1 song – which you may not have expected – have any say in the matter.

The New Number One

“Animals” by Martin Garrix!! Surprised?? The song has grown immensely on me during the month, and the young Dutchman already seems to have a signature sound of his own, judging by his subsequent collabo “Wizard” and a newer song which you’ll find under the extras below. But will “Animals” get more than one appearance at #1? Find out in two weeks! Love the above photo! Martin is in my city (Toronto) in a sold out show on February 7 at Uniun.

The Rest of the Top 10

“Easy” by Travis Garland continues its climb to #2 in its 8th appearance on the chart, while “Motel Pool” sits comfortably at #6.
Bright Light Bright Light gives up #1 with “An Open Heart” and moves to #3, while the equally pensive “In Your Care” moves up 13-10!
Singles holding steady: SIRPAUL’s “Every Single Moment” at #4 and “Breathe Me”, the thoughtful Sia cover by Carlos Nóbrega at #7 🙂
Into the Top 5 she goes! New UK singer Eurielle’s gorgeous “Gold” (video below) moves up 6-5!
The last new Top 10 entry is Adam Lambert’s highest on the chart thus far, the “Glee” take on “Marry The Night” at #9.

On The Rise

Canadian quartet Neverest is at it again, after the #1 success of “Rewind”, almost in the Top 10 a few weeks after “Take Cover” (video above) appeared on their Facebook page as a free download. It’s the fastest riser on the chart, climbing 21-11!
And speaking of “Rewind”, its songwriter Corey Niles and pal Dru continue to rise up the chart with a fine slice of pop/hip hop, “Rollercoaster” at #12.
New L.A. resident Jake Miller is fresh out of the Grammys and zipping up my chart 22-13 with a fun pre-summer anthem “Collide”.
While “Do What U Want” has slowed down at #14, Lady GaGa’s rollicking “MANiCURE” jumps 18-15.
He’s got an Oscar nomination, won a Grammy as Producer of the Year, provided vocals on Record of the Year “Get Lucky” by Daft Punk (which got to #2 on my chart and was #16 for 2013) – Pharrell Williams oughta be “Happy”, as the former UK #1 climbs 27-21.
Lastly, the eclectic and most listenable “Talking To The Walls” (video below) has an outstanding vocal by its singer, newcomer Své, and it moves up 25-22. It’s available on iTunes.

The Debuts – Power EDM Trio!

Storming the chart at #17 is the irresistible and indefatiguable “Cannonball (Earthquake)” by Dutch producers/DJs Showtek & Justin Prime, which started life as an instrumental two years ago, but has been transformed into an incredible vocal anthem courtesy of singer/songwriter Matthew Koma. This needs a worldwide release!!

I got so tired of Wake Me Up soooo fast that I went silent on Avicii’s album True. That has all changed with the arrival of “Addicted To You” at #20, featuring a unique standout vocal performance by American singer Audra Mae. A short song at 2:28, it has all the boom you need to make you want much more!

Lastly, we have more Matthew Koma vocalizing and songwriting courtesy of the UK Top 20 hit “Dare You” by another well-established Dutch producer/DJ, Robbert Hardwell. This gorgeously melodic EDM song arrives at #25 and I’m looking forward to the official remixes 🙂
