“Paradise” by @Shane54music featuring #JennyJordan is fiery Eurohouse

SHANE 54 featuring JENNY JORDAN, “Paradise” (original and remixes)

Hungarian producer Shane 54 captures a variety of EDM styles and elements in “Paradise”, featuring an alluring vocal by Jenny Jordan.  He kicks up the Eurohouse flavour several notches with progressive big room elements that you might not usually find in a song like this, making it hit hard at times, which club DJ’s will absolutely love.  He brings it up and down at all of the right times and it’s a breezy, involving 3 and a half minutes.  A number of remixes are available too but Maddix gets a big two thumbs up for playing on the same song structure by revving it up with both progressive and retro techno vibes, highly complimentary to the original.  “Paradise” has loads of potential and with Nettwerk Records on board you can bet a lot of activity will be on deck.  Check out the original and remixes in the set above.

Check out creative, progressive “Warped Tides” by Boston’s @CRVE_U

CRVE U, “Warped Tides” (free DL)

“Warped Tides” is a new progressive instrumental EDM track by relative newcomer, Boston’s CRVE U (aka producer/remixer Jared Rapoza) brought to us via Lowly Palace.  It’s a layered, sometimes chilled-out track that takes its time to build, and could sound great in an early evening set to draw folks out on to the dance floor.  It more than sustains its four minute length by coming on full throttle in the last minute when it’s so critical to hold people’s attention, after a middle part that might be a little repetitive.  But stick with “Warped Tides” throughout – it’s one of those songs that you’ll want to hear multiple times before it sinks in.  CRVE U is off to a fine start with this original and you can download it for free at the above link.

“#Bomber!” by @DJMirkoB and #BeatmartHz is an epic #Italohouse blast

DJ MIRKO B & BEATMARTHZ, “#Bomber!”

Italy’s DJ Mirko B is on a roll with massive-sounding progressive Italohouse records that have a touch of 90’s flavour to them, such as his recent collaboration with Alexandrius on “Balmung”.  “#Bomber!” pairs him up this time with another fellow Italian, BeatmartHz, in this release for Digital Complex, and come that critical time in the evening when a DJ wants everyone on the dance floor, “#Bomber!” is one of those songs that will fill it – sports teams looking for theme music should also take note!  It’s simply sheer epic fun – don’t think, just let loose.  You can pick up “#Bomber!” on Beatport.

More bass please: @AnggerDimas & @itsApocalypto give us “Out My Mind” featuring Louise LaBelle @LaBellemusic

ANGGER DIMAS & APOCALYPTO featuring LOUISE LABELLE, “Out My Mind”

“Out My Mind” is indeed a cross-continental collaboration by the rising Indonesian DJ/producer Angger Dimas and Australia’s Apocalypto featuring powerhouse vox by British singer Louise LaBelle.  “Out My Mind” is the best of two EDM worlds – a riveting ear-catching singalong in a dirty, progressive, futuristic mix full of bass to slay you in your boots on the dance floor.  It doesn’t let up with intents on leaving you breathless in a nasty kind of way 😛  Check it out above; it’s culled from the four song EP Angger Dimas & Friends.

Revel in the epic heartbreaker “Windswept” by @runCryWolf

CRYWOLF, “Windswept”

After the complex but captivating “Quantum Immortality” comes “Windswept” by California EDM performer Crywolf (aka Justin Phillips).  It’s an epic heartbreaker that returns to the same ground set by “Slow Burn” earlier this year.  Both songs are connected by stories of relationships that went so sour that they resulted in being emotionally trapped.  “Windswept” is full of torrents of ups and downs that would be perfectly suited to be acted out in front of us on stage, much in the way that Jim Steinman wrote for rocker Meat Loaf.  The quiet moments of anguish will have you tearing up, while the majestic rebounds will have you leading the charge to abandon all thoughts of that relationship once and for all, but by then there is nothing left but the existential question asked at the end.  Crywolf’s “Windswept” is powerful stuff, long at 6:27 but worth every second at the link above.

“Light” by @SanHolobeats is a sweeping synth symphony

SAN HOLO, “Light”

It’s one of those songs that will literally sweep you off your feet, on the dance floor or not! I don’t know much about Dutchman San Holo, but till now he’s offered up some of the most infuriating, progressive alternative EDM I’ve heard this year.  With “Light”, he’s cut the melody and song down to something simpler, and built a major wall of a synth symphony around it.  The beautiful  (but uncredited) vocal completely suits the song, but it’s the sonic blast well placed and starting at 1:20 that will win you over for the rest of “Light”.  This is inspiring creativity at its best and shows a side of San Holo I want to hear more often.  Listen at the link above and download it for free (at least for now).

Remixer @BKAYEofficial gives @Opiaofficial’s “YDU” an intense workover

OPIA, “YDU” (BKAYE remix) (free DL)

California’s BKAYE looks to have a breakout on his hands with his intense workover of L.A. soul/pop duo Opia’s “YDU” (meaning ‘you don’t understand’).  In its original version, “YDU” is a languid, lingering jam when something is amiss mid-relationship.  BKAYE plays on that and cranks it up with strong, crusty, futuristic synths that will keep you on edge until some vocal effects hit an appropriate climax right before it’s all over. Jacob and Cole from Opia have such marvelous voices and BKAYE’s take on the song complements their talents instead of losing them in the mix.  Hear it all above and then download it for free 🙂

“Six Feet Under” by young @Billie_Eilish gets a slick melodic house remix by @Vastamusic

BILLIE EILISH, “Six Feet Under” (Vasta remix)

For a different kind of remix full of an immense variety of sounds, check out what Florida’s Vasta has created to refashion teen-on-the-rise Billie Eilish’s “Six Feet Under”.  He actually plays off her uniquely expressive somewhat Lana Del Rey-ish style in the quieter, emotional parts of the song and adds a bass undercurrent, sharp percussion, and other soaring synths with a driving rhythm that takes the song to different places than the original.  It might take a little longer to arrive at in the second half but it’s definitely worth your while to stick with it.  Take a listen above to Vasta’s melodic house remix, and download it for free.

Listen to @iamEauClaire’s thoughtful original “All The Wonder” also in a @LoFrames remix

EAU CLAIRE, “All The Wonder”, also in a LoFrames remix

After making her name well known across North America as a producer/DJ and remixer, Washington, DC-based Eau Claire has launched her own recording career with her EP All The Wonder.  And unlike many other performing women in the EDM genre, Eau Claire has chosen to sing the title song.  As a producer, it makes perfect sense as she’s written for her own voice and the results are not only assured but pretty darned catchy as well.  The sparkling keyboards and melody all join forces with the vocal to make a solid song structure to keep you more than interested throughout.  And French duo LoFrames have come up with their own darker, unique-sounding take on the song that sends it through some Daft Punk-ish kind of motions, particularly right before the 3 minute mark, which will sound fabulous on big club speakers.  You can pick up Eau Claire’s EP and the LoFrames remix on your favourite digital platform, but check them both out at the links above.

Live forever: @runCryWolf shines with progressive, languid electronica “Quantum Immortality”

CRYWOLF, “Quantum Immortality”

“Quantum Immortality” is the kind of song title that belongs as part of a sci-fi movie, and actually this new single by L.A.-based performer Crywolf would totally suit that artistic environment.  Drawing from influences like Crystal Castles and Flume while stylistically falling into similar musical trappings as M83, James Blake, and Porter Robinson, Crywolf (aka Justin Phillips) packs a lot of content and flair into his songs that sustain them till they finish.  “Quantum Immortality” may not be for everyone, but its theme is universal and the melody moves along a lot like classical pieces at times.  But it wouldn’t be convincing without his far-reaching vocal, which I first heard earlier this year through Bronze Whale’s remix of the heartfelt “Slow Burn” (from his recent album Cataclasm).  Crywolf has been gaining more momentum over the past few years, currently wrapping up a recent multi-city tour, and I think his profile will continue to gleam with songs like this.  “Quantum Immortality” is for late nights when you want to ponder life sitting under the stars.  Check it out at the above link.
