Real crowd-pleaser: “Day By Day” by @theDiscoFries featuring @KattRoseworld

THE DISCO FRIES featuring KATT ROSE, “Day By Day”

NYC duo The Disco Fries follow up the enormous major label house track release “Born Ready” with “Day By Day”, featuring none other than UK singer Katt Rose, who we heard recently in a dynamic collaboration with Jack Wins on “Slave 2 Love”.  “Day By Day” is an effortless-sounding crowd-pleaser that moves along so efficiently that you are guaranteed to be begging for more when its 3+ minutes are finished.  What I like best about “Day By Day” is how The Disco Fries employs Katt’s voice as part of the hook, which is one of those rare moments when you can picture a crowd standing in a circle with some lucky guy or gal in the middle as they rush up to playfully crowd them in.  “Day By Day” is a fun, festive track brought to us by those great ears behind the Armada Zouk imprint.  Get it on iTunes.

Old school becomes new school with “Tell Me” by @Nikomakesbeats and @Real_Halogen

NIKO THE KID & HALOGEN, “Tell Me”

If you’re hankering for a blast of early 90’s pop/house by the likes of Martha Wash or C+C Music Factory, then “Tell Me” by L.A.-based Niko The Kid – you’ll remember his collaboration with DATABOY, “When It Rains, It Pours” – and Atlanta duo Halogen is just for you!  The guys have lots of inspiring tricks up their sleeves to keep you entertained in its huge, spiffy mix, but you still won’t stop thinking of how well it would fit into a 90’s mix.  “Tell Me” is a real crowd-pleaser and I expect DJ’s looking to inflect 90’s house into their current mix will just love it.  Give it a listen above and be drawn into that groove 🙂

Funky house music from @iamtheElephante featuring #Nevve “Catching On”

ELEPHANTE featuring NEVVE, “Catching On”

Just about everything that Elephante touches in 2016 turns golden on the EDM scene.  He’s back with another original following the still-amazing “Closer” and his wild, progressive remix of “Crossfire” by Stephen with “Catching On”.  Dropping the pace to a jaunty and funky house rhythm, it brings out a sultry, ear-catching vocal by Nevve that recalls early Lana del Rey and Amy Winehouse without the edge.  If you love music this year from his contemporaries The Knocks or Penguin Prison, then Elephante’s “Catching On” will find a happy place in your music set.  Pick it up on iTunes.

Make your best move with “Shy” by @TheMagician featuring @BraytonBowman

THE MAGICIAN featuring BRAYTON BOWMAN, “Shy”

I’m a little late on this one as it came to my attention twice last week but “Shy” by Belgian producer/songwriter The Magician featuring 22 year old Philadelphian vocalist-on-the-rise Brayton Bowman is special for so many reasons.  That layered, commanding production is front and centre with bass synths and a killer drop that send the song well on its way.  Brayton has been on the bubble for a while now and his gritty and soulful voice reminds me of someone inspired by classic R&B like John Newman.  But “Shy” is one of those great songs that immediately send folks onto the dance floor at clubs.  You’ll just have to watch those guys and gals who are out to impress and make their best move when this song comes on.  Bonus – it would sound great on the radio.  Listen above and pick it up on iTunes (also check out the fiery club mix!).

@Megaphonixmusic fires up another anthemic house track with “Don’t Stop”

MEGAPHONIX, “Don’t Stop”

Chicago’s Megaphonix follows up the uplifting “Open Your Mind” (currently residing at #20 on my personal chart) with “Don’t Stop”.  It’s got a breezy, effortless melody to keep club goers happy in the summer months along with a compelling classic house rhythm that scores with immediate notice early on.  The futuristic vocal effects are persuasive; they help make “Don’t Stop” into a club anthem and will resonate in a big club environment.  Chalk up another one for Megaphonix as his music continues to receive worldwide support.  Stream or download it for free at the link above.

Ready to take the summer by storm: @theDiscoFries’ “Born Ready” (featuring @HopeMurphyuk) in a @real_Halogen radio edit

THE DISCO FRIES featuring HOPE MURPHY, “Born Ready” (Halogen radio edit)

Sometimes timing is everything and it makes creating a record all the more worthwhile.  “Born Ready” by NYC duo The Disco Fries (Nick and Danny) featuring UK singer Hope Murphy and remixed by Georgia duo Halogen has been around for a while now.  But persistence pays off, and I think clubland worldwide should truly embrace this outstanding song thanks to a new major record label release!  “Born Ready” happily marries contemporary feel-good house with the zest of the early 90’s club hits, and Hope Murphy’s intense divalicious vocals rank up there with the best of ’em!  So don’t just get ready, you’re “Born Ready” to love this one whether it be in a club or on dance music radio.  Get it on iTunes.

Slick as thieves: Smooth chilled-out house by @LoudLuxury x @Shoffymusic “Villains”

LOUD LUXURY x SHOFFY, “Villains”

Hot off the presses today, promising Toronto duo Loud Luxury (Joe and Andrew) team up with intriguing vocalist Shoffy (who has already got the attention of Spinnin’ Records) for “Villains”.  If there’s such a thing as smooth chilled-out house music, then these guys have it down in spades.  There’s an R&B flair in Shoffy’s voice that recalls the best of the 90’s (the style of Brian McKnight comes to mind) and it’s matched with a genuinely interesting mix of tropical-infused house music.  This kind of dance music goes down really easy and the song conspicuously perks your ears up along the way.  Download “Villains” for free at the link above.

A Taste of NGHT LFE: @MiDisguise x @Rouseofficial with “Her And Him”

midisguise rouse

MI DISGUISE x ROUSE, “Her And Him”

L.A.’s ever-mysterious Mi Disguise is definitely one to watch in my books on the EDM scene with the creative sounds that have been brought your way thus far, including last year’s “East Side Bay”, as well as some of the best unreleased efforts you can hear on Soundcloud, such as the should-be-massive “Years Ago”.  Mi Disguise has teamed up with his buddy Rouse to create their NGHT LFE Vol. 1 mixtape, a varied mix of R&B and EDM that will attract fans of The Weeknd as easily as it will those of European-styled progressive house or US.-flavoured tropical house.  The standout song is “Her And Him” (below), enigmatic lovers of the NGHT LFE that you can find by a fire near their cool car on an L.A. beach.  This one’s as much emotional EDM as it is for NGHT LFE driving.  Other notable songs to check out on NGHT LFE Vol. 1 are “Don’t You Want My Name” and “Ride”.  Can’t wait for Vol. 2!  Pick up NGHT LFE Vol. 1 on iTunes.

@Billie_R_Martin conquers dance clubs once again with “The Glittering Gutter”

BILLIE RAY MARTIN, “The Glittering Gutter” (Dave Audé radio edit)

British pop/dance singer Billie Ray Martin has never been away from making music for very long, though it’s been over 20 years already since “Your Loving Arms” would be heard relentlessly in dance clubs throughout 1995/96 and evermore on 90’s nights.  Billie Ray recently landed once again in the Top 20 of the Billboard Club Play chart with “The Glittering Gutter”, which has an array of dance mixes to choose from.  But it’s the Grammy winning Dave Audé’s radio edit which is the real zinger, accompanied by an odd, slightly creepy video which reminds me a lot of F.W. Murnau’s German expressionist post WWI films.  From her album The Soul Tapes, “The Glittering Gutter” is a return to 90’s styled house music at its best with a dynamic vocal by Billie Ray.  Dance music fans never forget and when a track is so good like “The Glittering Gutter” then that only means demand for more from performers like Billie Ray Martin.  It’s available for purchase on most platforms.

NYC production/DJ duo @ElectricBodega offer up pop-inflected progressive house in “Rest Of My Life” (featuring @MattBeilis)

ELECTRIC BODEGA featuring MATT BEILIS, “Rest Of My Life”

It’s another winner that’s going to keep dance floors busy this summer.  “Rest Of My Life” by NYC production/DJ duo Electric Bodega has a melody that cries out progressive house but a lilting vibe that’s all natural pop.  This is aided immensely by new go-to-voice, New York native Matt Beilis – when I say “go-to-voice”, I mean Matt has one of those tones that can fit any kind of song.  He’s just released his own album The Truth – in Japan!!  But no wonder that The Chainsmokers allowed Electric Bodega to co-remix and pretty well overhaul “Don’t Let Me Down” into something totally different.  With “Rest Of My Life”, Electric Bodega, like the ‘smokers and The Knocks, transcends the dance genres and have made a perfectly accessible pop record.  “Rest Of My Life” will sneak around the corner and catch you when you’re not looking/listening.  Pick it up on iTunes.
