@DROELOEmusic are back with an ear-catching original “Shibuya”

DROELOE, “Shibuya”

Dutch duo DROELOE are already making waves in the EDM world after their solid official remix of Charlie Puth & Selena Gomez’s “We Don’t Talk Anymore” and their remix of WRLD & Father Dude’s “Galaxies”.  Brand spanking new out of the gate, “Shibuya” (which seems to be named after a part of Japan) is a progressive, creative instrumental like no other.  It definitely has an east Asian vibe about it but has some crazy shifts which could sound like either the backdrop to a horror movie or a slapstick comedy.  And you’ll have you’re own take on it all to, but it doesn’t stop it from being a fun track that will cause ears to pay attention in a club.  If DROELOE keeps working it like this they will be very well known and respected by year’s end.  Check it out at the link above.

Powerful “Hold” featuring @JessicaJarrell previews upcoming @iamtheElephante album – I Am The Elephante!

ELEPHANTE featuring JESSICA JARRELL, “Hold”

What a year this has turned out to be for L.A.-based Elephante (aka Tim Wu), capped recently by playing the Billboard Hot 100 festival!  It’s made a timely lead-in for his upcoming album I Am The Elephante! which features this third preview called “Hold”, featuring noted L.A. singer Jessica Jarrell.  A convincing, sharp vocal ignites “Hold” as one of ‘Phante’s more aggressive songs both musically and thematically.  He glues you to your seat (or the dance floor, as the case may be) with a busy and relentless mix that isn’t over-the-top.  Given that the song’s about holding on to love for dear life, you’d want to be right there hanging with them both too!  A reference point might be his recent and hard-hitting remix of Stephen’s “Crossfire”.  Nonetheless, “Hold” bodes well for the rest of the new songs on the album.  Elephante is one of the new EDM kings who are about to take over the Fall with their new records.  You can pick up “Hold” now on all digital platforms and pre-order I Am The Elephante! 🙂

Nothing but high energy fun: “All The Way” by @Hellbergmusic

HELLBERG, “All The Way”

Sometimes a record just wants to make you dance, and that is mission accomplished.  Such is the case with Hellberg’s new one “All The Way”, out now on all digital platforms.  It’s a bright, bouncy progressive/futuristic instrumental full of high end and with a big beat that will jump out of those big club speakers at you.  Resistance is futile… while the published link gives a 1:11 preview, it’s really enough to sell you on “All The Way”.  Guaranteed to fit into and pick up any DJ set 🙂  Hellberg’s got another winner in anticipation of more new projects to come…

@JustAGent crushes indie EDM with “Rolling Dice” featuring @EllaVosmusic and @JoeyJChavez

JUST A GENT featuring ELLA VOS and JOEY CHAVEZ, “Rolling Dice”

Welcome once again to the rich music world of Australian producer/DJ Just A Gent with his latest “Rolling Dice” from his EP Stories To Tell, fresh off the presses as of yesterday!  I wrote about this teen’s “Heavy As A Heartbreak” earlier this year, and “Rolling Dice” takes that several paces forward with a complex piece of storytelling that is supplemented by the epic electronic backdrop that he provides.  This isn’t meant to include all the wow and flutter of a busy dance track.  “Rolling Dice” is like a theatre piece, led by two strong, unique vocals that sound like they are at a crossroads, and as the story unfolds Just A Gent allows it to build into a grand tale with enough majestic sweeps and turns that make its 4:48 journey seem much less.  There’s major support coming out of Australia for Just A Gent such that a few US concert dates have been announced with more to come.  Check out “Rolling Dice” above and put Just A Gent on your Must Watch list for the rest of the year because I don’t think you’ll want to miss what’s coming.

A futuristic @SeanTurkmusic remix gives pop potential to”Dive” by @TheSalvatoreG featuring @official_Enya and @itsAlexAris

SALVATORE featuring ENYA and ALEX ARIS, “Dive” (Sean Turk remix)

“Dive” is a complex and layered song from Sweden’s Salvatore Ganacci and featuring fellow Swede Alex Aris on vocals that is given pop potential through a futuristic remix from Long Island’s Sean Turk, fresh off of his collaboration with Brandyn Burnette on “Closer”.  The track is also gifted with an official sample of Enya’s “Boadicea” from her earlier pre-“Orinoco Flow” days and has been picked up by Warner Music.  I suppose when someone like Enya allows her music to grace your song then that’s a huge vote of confidence!  Sean’s remix makes this common tale of keeping a relationship together even more compelling with appropriately placed effects which heighten the urgency of the lyrics.  It adds immensely to the quieter, trap/chill original and allows Alex’s voice to get a little more under your skin.  Give it a listen above then head over to iTunes to pick it up.

You gotta say YES: @Yello_band is back with “Limbo” and you’re gonna love it @BorisBlankYello

YELLO, “Limbo”

Swiss band Yello – long a duo of Dieter Meier and Boris Blank – arrived on the dance music scene in 1979 to catch the sunset that was the finale of disco, and remain in it while incorporating characteristics of other genres, such as the rising punk-oriented new wave, into their music.  Listening to some of their earlier hits, like the still-fresh-sounding “Bostich”, shows Yello’s influence on dance music in the 35+ years since.  They’ve never left the dance music scene, and their first release in 5 years is upon us called Toy, from which we now have “Limbo”.  The dark, deep, mysterious vocal that has graced other songs like “Goldrush I” and of course “Oh Yeah” is back in full effect, but the music is definitely reaching to the halcyon days of disco for its ambiance.  Yello never miss a step with the contemporary technology to keep their sound cutting edge, and “Limbo” blends as well as it stands apart for that ever-recognizable vocal.  And with Giorgio Moroder out there performing at 75, perhaps we will see Yello (who are also in their 60’s and 70’s) one day too as dance music has no age limit or barrier 🙂  Watch the video above.

Toronto’s @KikiRowemusic gets the @YoungBombs remix treatment for new single “Trust Issues”

KIKI ROWE, “Trust Issues” (Young Bombs remix)

New Toronto singer Kiki Rowe’s single “Trust Issues” is a dark song that should find favour with fans of Lorde, Banks, and Juno winner Alyssia Cara.  Rising Vancouver duo Young Bombs (who scored recently with their remix of Alyssia’s “Wild Things”) recognize this and add some tempo and progressive house flavour to help the rich and soulful song move along for a dance club crowd, and it works beautifully.  Like both Lorde and Banks, Kiki’s voice is completely suited for the EDM genre and Young Bombs showcase it while adding distinct that subdued progressive vibe.

@CandylandDJs returns with @Shoffymusic for quirky head-turner “Faces”

CANDYLAND & SHOFFY, “Faces”

I’ve gotta hand it to Candyland for making her return an even sweeter one with the quirky “Faces”, featuring vocals by L.A.-based up-and-comer Shoffy.  The SoCal DJ/producer had taken some radio silence but recently re-emerged like time had stood still in the EDM world.  “Faces” has a lot of different flavours – progressive, R&B, hip hop, softer future bass – making it easy to slide into many different sets of songs.  In-between stylistic changes, Shoffy’s vocals sound rather vulnerable and heartstruck.  Don’t be fooled by the unassuming beginning; once some sly effects start feeding into the music then heads will start turning.  Those who are looking for something a little different in their playlists will enjoy “Faces”.  Give it a listen at the above link.

Glittering prize: @Wookieofficial’s soaring remix of “Into You” by @ArianaGrande

ARIANA GRANDE, “Into You” (Wookie Vegas remix)

L.A.-based producer The Wookie, who I wrote about some time ago when he partnered up with the always fabulous Adam Tyler on “The Dreamers”, returns with his glimmering remix of one of my current faves, “Into You” by Ariana Grande.  Right off the bat, the seductive funky groove of the original is gone, instead replaced by incredibly well-balanced high end.  This is one showy remix, it’s all about shimmering synths and arpeggios, which always put me in a very happy place.  No wonder The Wookie calls this his Vegas remix – I can picture it as the backdrop to one of the larger than life shows in that city’s venues.  Dance music lovers should not pass this one by.  DJ’s can easily incorporate it into either a retro hi-energy set or a more contemporary progressive one.  Either way your audience will be surprised and pleased.  Download The Wookie’s remix at the link above.

Spread for love: “Wings” by @AashMehtamusic featuring #JessForman

AASH MEHTA featuring JESS FORMAN, “Wings”

Currently based out of San Francisco, producer/remixer/performer Aash Mehta returns with quite possibly his best original song to date, “Wings”, featuring NYC vocalist Jess Forman.  It’s a lovely layered effort, quite the beautiful song lyrically too.  The progressive future bass backdrop meshes amazingly with the diverse voice of Jess Forman.  So all of the pieces to this song end up front and centre and competing for your attention, which is a good thing as there’s lots to remember about “Wings”.  Be dazzled at the link above and then pick it up on iTunes.
